GDPR stands for General Data Protection Legislation. Although it was originally an EU law which came into effect on 25th May 2028, the UK will retain this legislation after exiting the EU.

This law deals with how personal data can be used, processed and stored, where personal data is defined as information about an identifiable, living person. It aims to protect the rights of subjects, or people, whose personal information and sensitive data is stored by organisations. It gives the right for individuals to know what personal information is stored by an organisation, the right to ensure that information is accurate and the right to ask to have it destroyed.

By using our website and completing online forms, you are giving us your consent to collect, use and store data for the purposes specified at the time of collection. 

Inverclyde Heritage Network collects and stores personal information via Google Workspace in several ways, details of which are given in our Privacy and Cookies Policy. We collect the minimum of information needed for named specific purposes and when it is no longer required for that purpose, the information is destroyed.

To ensure accuracy, we will send you a copy of the data we hold on you on an annual basis - usually when the annual membership fee is due - and ask you to check the accuracy of the information we hold. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to correct any inaccuracies or make changes. 

You may ask to see the data we hold on you at any time.

At any time, you may ask to have your data updated or destroyed.

You may also withdraw consent to having your data processed by Inverclyde Heritage Network.

Our Privacy and Cookies Policy explains how your information is gathered, how we use it and how we handle it securely. It will also give you details of data collection, use and storage by software we use to run and administer our website and membership records.
