Contribution Guidelines

.

Inverclyde Heritage Network welcome contributions to the website - particularly blog posts!

Follow these simple guides to share your heritage interests and research - or to encourage new members to join your group.

As we do not have anywhere to store physical objects, we are happy to discuss ways your items can be digitised for inclusion of the website.

What will my subject be about?

  • You can tell us about any topic of heritage and history - as long as it is related to Inverclyde.

What type of contribution are you looking for?

  • It can be written text, sound recordings, still or moving images.

How will I send my contribution?

  • Written work as a text file - doc or docx files;

  • Still images - most common formats should be fine;

  • Moving images - as with stills, most common formats ;

  • Sound files - preferably wav files.

I don’t know how to prepare the files?

  • You could ask a friend or family member to help;

  • Or, learn how to prepare the files by joining one of our IT sessions;

  • Or send us an email and we can arrange to record an oral history.

Anything else I should know?

  • You should make sure that you own the copyright of all still and recorded images. You can get further information on copyright here or email us to discuss an issue.

  • All contributions are subject to editing or may be rejected if they are unsuitable or not relevant to the history and heritage of Inverclyde.

  • Submitting work does not confer any rights of inclusion, in whole or in part.

  • All submissions are accepted on a non-payment basis only.

So, how do I send my contribution?

  • Complete a quick form to give us permission to use your work

  • Email your contribution - attaching all the files needed;

  • We will let you know when your work will appear on the website.

Thank you in anticipation!
